Musing in Metal: A Quiet Safe Spot
K. C. Putnam has served Cumberland as Fire Chaplain with the Cumberland Fire Department for over twenty-five years. Putnam has not only supported the first responders working at emergency incidents, but has also been a 'compassionate companion' to those affected by fires, medical emergencies, and accidents. He has learned the vital importance of creating 'safe spaces' through which to respond and heal.
Through his metalworking, Putnam honors safe spaces found in nature. Shorelines, wooded hills and valleys, fields and streams, as well as garden plots are among the settings he recreates. Whether one of his comprehensive scenic landscapes, or a single tree from within one of those masterworks, it is Putnam’s wish to help keep those safe and sacred spaces within reach of people, during stressful times in today’s hectic and chaotic world. A self-taught welder, Putnam is a member of Artascope Studios in Yarmouth, Maine.
