An allotment of $1,800 had been awarded for the purchase of a fire truck, which was purchased in 1919 for $1,400, as noted in the 1919 Town Report on page 12, saving the Town $400.
The truck was a Model T Ford with 100 feet of hose, some hand tools, and a short ladder, housed at the stable of the home at 279 Main Street.

In 1936, the Town of Cumberland purchased a Ford V-8 truck with a built-in pump and ladders, built by the McCann Company. This truck was in service as a workable unit with the department until 1961.It is still in use as a vehicle for parades and events, and Cumberland firefighters love being able to have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of it!
