Wind Chime is an original womenswear ensemble which I designed and produced for Thailand’s Queen Sirikit Institute of Sericulture and the International Apparel and Textile Association. The purpose of this design was to showcase apparel made from the highest quality Thai silk textiles; and for display in an exhibit to promote the new labeling standards to authenticate Thai silk and protect it from imitations, developed by Thailand’s Agriculture Ministry.
The inspiration for my design was a glass wind chime hanging on my porch. Its vertical panes of translucent, lavender-colored glass of multiple shades, cut with diagonal edges, inspired the vertical and diagonal lines for the twenty-one asymmetric pattern pieces incorporated into my jacket.
