Guga is a quilted wall hanging which measures 24” x 22”. I created this quilt for my nephew and niece, depicting their dog Guga. The image of Guga is from a photograph taken by my brother, Michael Garber. I collaged fabric by fusing, and then did a combination of thread painting and free motion quilting.
Lion of Kenya is a quilted wall hanging which measures 31” x 21”. The design is taken from a photograph which I took on a safari to Kenya approximately four years ago. The image of the lion was created through thread painting. Afterwards, I stitched the image to a background fabric and performed free motion quilting.
Climbing Up to the Great Wall is a quilt inspired by a trip to China eighteen years ago. The white shirted figure approaching the Great Wall is me. My husband took this photograph to prove I made it there. For this piece, I fused fabrics onto a background and then machine-stitched them down, to stabilize them and create depth.
