Old Central Fire Station
Cumberland’s first fire station was a one-bay metal building beside the old blacksmith’s shop, built in 1921 for $340.
In 1928, the town bought a new truck and converted half of the town hall into a fire station. The newly formed Cumberland Center Water Company strategically placed small hydrants throughout the Center.
The old Central Station was burned down in 1969 in order to make room to build the new Central Station.
